FaMiLy HiStOrY, n8 Is DoInG iT...

N8 has a NV History Project.
It is called "My Roots".
He's been making a picture pedigree chart.
We thought you might have fun trying to identify some relatives of ours.
Are you ready?
Who's this?
'Yep, that is Craig's dad--L. Cyril Schank.
Ready for another?

Who is this?
Could you tell?
That's my dad--Wesley Ira Mathews.
Here comes another photo...

Do you know who this is?
That's my F.D. mother!
'Ready for another?
Hmm, who could this be?

It is Craig's mother at high school graduation.

I've got one more.

Okay, who's this?

It's my favorite person--Craig!

ThE wEeK iN aBcS...

A is for "ATV" which N8's been riding.
When Uncle Ernie goes out of town,
N8 feeds his cattle.
B is for Bishop Donald.
(He is really doing a great job,and we appreciate him!)

C is for Craig.
His surgeon took the stitches out last Thursday.
We stopped by Tahoe on the way back from the dr's.
(Have you ever seen someone shovel snow with one hand???)
Here he is relaxing with flat Lily.
It's Monday, and he went back to work.
('Just can't slow that man down!)

And D is for Darren.
It's his birthday!
(He's a quarter of a century.)
Happy bday, Der! We love YOU!

Pitooey!

We've had some great cats...

Wally-Mart ('bet you can't guess where we got him),
Huey,
Lihue (pictured above--we got him right after
our family reunion in Kauai), and

Pitooey!
(He was a stray that was brought into the clinic.
We got him in July of 2008.)
Pitooey was quite the character.
He put up with us and our shananigins.
He loved to be scratched right under the chin.
(He'd even retrack his claws and use his paw
to move your hand exactly where he wanted to be
itched.)
He'd follow the kids out to the school bus each morning.
We kept him outside, but on rare occasions,
N8 would bring him in to watch t.v.
He would explore every car that visited our home, artistically placing paw
prints across each windshield.
He'd lie happily and quietly as we'd cradle him.

Yesterday morning, we couldn't find him anywhere.
He didn't report for breakfast.
No matter how we called, he didn't come.
We searched and searched.
N8 finally found him in the horse corral near the street.
He must have been hit by a car.
He was heading home and couldn't quite make it.
We cried.
Then we made him a resting spot.
We will really miss him.
He was a very unique (and loved) cat.

OpErAtIoN!

F.D. Craig had an operation
on Thursday.

His rotator cuff needed repair.
Flat Lily came along.
The orthodpedist took care of both of them.
This is the "before" picture.
(Note: Craig's shoulder looks okay, but it is really tweaked.
Lily is smiling but she is quite wrinkled for her young age.)

Here's the "after" shot.

(Note: Craig's shoulder is all repaired. Flat Lily is now completely straight.)

Craig continues to mend. He gets to wear the fancy shoulder holder for 4 weeks--won't be fun, but he should heal well.

Flat Lily :)

We have the cutest, little visitor at our home this week!
It's flat Lily!
She came to visit on Saturday.
Here is a picture of her and Grandpa watching t.v.

Nathan and Chelsie tried to feed her.
(I definitely think that she will be the winner
of the biggestloserincedarcity.blogspot.com.)
Go, Lily!
(We'll be taking her with us for the next week and showing her the sites!)
